Melvin Sems Memorial Scholarship

The family of Melvin Sems offers one scholarship to graduating seniors with a demonstrated interest in the field of Technical Sciences. Mel Sems was a 1960 graduate of Grand Island Senior High. Mel worked in the trades all his career, the majority of years were spent at Dramco Tool Co.

  • $500 x 1 year

  • 1

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High, Grand Island Northwest, Heartland Lutheran or Grand Island Central Catholic
  • Must attend Southeast Community College (Milford), or Central Community College (Hastings).
  • Must be pursuing a degree, certificate, or diploma in Manufacturing Technology or Machining (Machine Tool Technology).
  • Must have a GPA meet or exceed a 2.5 GPA

Selection Procedure

  • Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.

Terms of Payment

  • The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.

Claim Scholarship

  • The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
