Marilyn Arrants Memorial Scholarship

Marilyn Arrants taught at Shoemaker Elementary for many years. She loved teaching and she loved her students. She was known for taking her students to TCBY Yogurt for a dish of frozen yogurt on their birthdays. She considered her education to be one of the best decisions of her life and spent her life pouring that joy into others. To honor Marilyn’s memory, her family offers this scholarship in her name.

Amount and Terms

  • $500 x 1 year

  • 1

Eligibility

  • Must be accepted to a 2 or 4 year college
  • Must have attended Shoemaker Elementary for at least 1 year
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Preference will be given to students with financial need

Selection Procedure

  • Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.

Terms of Payment

  • The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.

Claim Scholarship

  • The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
