Grand Island Concert Association - Dahlstrom Music Scholarship

Scholarship Essay Required
1 minute audio file upload Required

Mrs. Linda Dahlstrom served in the Grand Island Public Schools as an elementary teacher for 24 years. She integrated listening to music and group singing in her fourth and fifth grade classrooms daily. Participating in community singing groups was also an important and enjoyable part of her life outside of school. Linda joined the Interfaith Community Choir in 1985 and became a charter member of the La Camerata Madrigal Singers in 1986, remaining in these groups for 25 years.

Linda has also given private piano lessons beginning in high school then continuing after retirement. It’s another way to promote the love and passion for musical expression in her students.

This scholarship is to celebrate students who may not have the desire to major in music, but may wish to fulfill themselves through music and the performing arts the rest of their lives. Mrs. Dahlstrom is encouraging students to apply for this scholarship through the Grand Island Concert Association partnered with the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation. This scholarship was formerly named the Irma Louise “Pat” Nichols Memorial Scholarship (2017-2024) in honor of Linda’s mother who influenced her musical training.
