Gabby Ayala Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Essay Required

In memory of Gabby Ayala, her family offers a $1,000 scholarship to a well-rounded student involved in athletics at Grand Island Senior High. Gabby, a 2008 graduate, played soccer and softball during her 4 years at GISH. She had an outgoing personality, and was a friend to all. Gabby had a tenacious spirit, pushing herself to be the best she could be both on the field and off. She was strong in academics and the will to succeed. Her senior year she filled her schedule with AP classes and graduated high school with 12 college credits. She was so passionate about everything she did and never allowed anyone to bring her down. She is greatly missed by those who knew her.

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High
  • Must enroll in a four-year college
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Must be involved in athletics at GISH
  • Must be a letter winner

Selection Procedure

  • Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.

Terms of Payment

  • The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.

Claim Scholarship

  • The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms. Send proof of enrollment to Kari Price via email to kprice@gips.org, in person at GIPS Administration Building (123 South Webb Road) or via mail to PO Box 4904, Grand Island, NE 68802.
