Doug Beran Memorial Scholarship

Doug Beran graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1970. After high school, Doug went to work for Western Electric like his father before him. In 1976, he started at Diamond Engineering and was a loyal employee for 41 years. He retired in June of 2017 as the Paving Superintendent. Doug always worked with his hands. As a tribute to Doug and the legacy he left, his wife Cindy, and daughters Vanessa and Hannah, offer this scholarship focused on students who will pursue a degree in construction, drafting, manufacturing or machining.

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School
  • Must be pursuing a 2 or 4-year degree in construction management, manufacturing, machining, or drafting

Selection Procedure

  • Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.

Terms of Payment

  • The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.

Claim Scholarship

  • The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
