Darrell Enck and Dorothy Haile Enck Family Scholarship

Darrell and Dorothy Enck raised their family in Grand Island after graduating from the Grand Island Public Schools. Their six children attended West Lawn, Walnut and GISH. Darrell and Dorothy’s parents also attended GIPS as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From this educational base the Enck family has pursued many diverse careers such as trades, medicine, social work, education, college athletics, coaching, business, media, and the arts. This scholarship honors their multigenerational connection to GIPS by helping students further their educational and career goals.

Number of Scholarships

  •  1

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High
  • Must have attend a Grand Island Public School from Kindergarten – 12th Grade
  • Must have a parent who also graduated from Grand Island Senior High
  • Must have a GPA between 2.0 and 3.5
  • Must attend an accredited Nebraska college, university, technical school or community college.

Selection Procedure

  • Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.

Terms of Payment

  • The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.

Claim Scholarship

  • The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
