Rick Milton Hospitality Scholarship
Scholarship Essay Required
Rick Milton spent more than 40 years in the hospitality industry. He was a certified hospitality administrator managing, owning, and operating a number of hotels throughout his career. He was known in Grand Island as "Mr. Hospitality." His title was earned through his service on the PTO's and booster organizations of Dodge Elementary, Barr Middle School, and Grand Island Senior High. He was known for organizing wonderful experiences for teachers and staff as a thank you for their efforts. Rick also invested heavily in Grand Island with his time and treasure. He was the Chairman of the Convention and Visitors Bureau and was instrumental in efforts to bring travel and tour business into Grand Island. Rick had a passion for education and to honor his memory, his family has set up this perpetual scholarship fund.

Eligibility
- Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High
- Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better
- Must have an ACT composite score of 20 or more
- Must major in a hospitality field such as tour and travel, hotel/restaurant management, convention planning, event planning, etc.
Preference will be given to those who
- attended Dodge Elementary
- have demonstrated work in a hospitality field such as waiting tables, hotel housekeeping, hotel clerk, banquet setup, bussing tables, etc.
Essay Question

- What is the Hospitality Industry?
- Why are you interested in the hospitality field?

Selection Procedure
- Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.
Terms of Payment
- The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.
Claim Scholarship
- The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
