Rich and Joyce McKinny Family Scholarship
Scholarship Essay Required
The Rich and Joyce McKinny Family Scholarship was established in honor and appreciation of the family’s K-12 education that was provided by Grand Island Public Schools. The scholarship is intended to provide support for hard-working GIPS graduates who have participated in school activities and wish to continue their education and give back to their community.

Eligibility
- Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Must have attended either West Lawn Elementary School or Walnut Middle School for 2 years
- Must be involved in one or more School recognized activities
- Must attend a Nebraska accredited trade school, university or college
Essay Question
Describe the extracurricular school or community activities, family responsibilities, jobs or any hobbies you pursue outside of academics. (Max 500 words)

Selection Procedure
- Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.
Terms of Payment
- The scholarship will be paid through the GIPS Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.
Claim Scholarship
- The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the GIPS Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
