Mr. Allen Covault Scholarship (2)

In honor of Mr. Allen Covault, and on behalf of the Class of 1973, graduate Doug Frey offers these scholarships. Frey is a member of the prestigious Grand Island Senior High Hall of Honor. He is grateful for the fine teachers who were success builders in his life. Specifically he notes that collectively his teachers at Grand Island Senior High School provided both the sciences and the arts, balancing the head and the heart in life. “I am forever indebted and grateful to them for their contribution to my success and to many others, making a better world through their efforts.” The scholarships are intended for students who have an exceptional work ethic and have worked hard outside the classroom in a part time or full time job while going to school.

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High or surrounding area (Grand Island Central Catholic, Grand Island Northwest, Heartland Lutheran, Adams Central, Arcadia, Aurora, Central City, Central Valley, Centura, Doniphan-Trumbull, Elba, Fullerton, Giltner, Hampton, Hastings, Heartland Community High School, High Plains, Litchfield, Loup City, Nebraska Christian, Ord, Palmer, Ravenna, Shelton, St Paul, St Cecilia, Wood River Rural High, York, or home school)
  • Must be pursuing a degree in engineering or accounting
  • Preference will be given to students who plan to attend a Division 1 University
  • Must meet the following grade point average: 
    Scholarship #1 - 3.5 GPA or above; Scholarship #2 - 3.0 GPA or above

Selection Procedure

  • Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.

Terms of Payment

  • The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.

Claim Scholarship

  • The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
