Lester Husted Memorial Scholarship

Lester Husted was a school psychologist who spent 31 years serving the Grand Island Public Schools as part of the Central Nebraska Support Service Program. Lester was known for his gentle nature and ability to put students and parents at ease. He was caring and empathetic and is described by others as someone who 'knew how to talk to people.' Lester had a passion for students with special needs and advocated for them on a daily basis. He was also well respected among his colleagues and his supervisors, many who would seek out his advice and dialogue. He was a mentor to a countless number of professionals and a leader of many educational initiatives throughout his career. Lester was well known for his motto, "In God we trust, all others must have data." Lester constantly invested in students, and this scholarship, focused on future educators, is Lester's legacy.

The Lester Husted Memorial Scholarship is intended for students who work hard and need additional support to pursue their education.
