Ken & Bonnie Gnadt Family Trust Scholarship

Former Mayor Ken Gnadt and his wife Bonnie raised four sons and one daughter who graduated from Grand Island Senior High. After service in the US Air Force, Gnadt worked for Cargill Company for much of his career. The Gnadt’s lived in Kansas; Ft. Worth, Texas; Tokyo, Japan; and Taipei, Taiwan; before moving to Grand Island in the early 1970’s. Ever a statesman, Ken Gnadt has given much back to Grand Island. He served as the city’s mayor from 1994-2002. He was instrumental in many Grand Island projects including the Children’s Groundwater Festival, the Nebraska State Fair, Grand Island Noon Rotary (District Governor), the Hall County Historical Society, Stuhr Museum and others. The Gnadt Family offers this scholarship award to students who are pursuing a degree in an agriculture related field. Additionally, preference will be given to any Grand Island student who plans to attend Gnadt’s alma mater, Kansas State University. The Gnadt Family funds this scholarship in honor of the Grand Island Rotary Club.

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must be attending Kansas State University or Majoring in an agriculture related field
  • Preference will be given to students who plan to attend Kansas State University
