Herbert (Herbie) F. Mayer, III Memorial Scholarship
The family of Herbert (Herbie) F. Mayer, III offers one scholarship for Grand Island Senior High students who will pursue a degree in the field of Construction or Engineering.
Herbert (Herbie) F. Mayer, III was one of the hardest working individuals one could imagine. He attended Grand Island Senior High. In 1981, his life was taken at the young age of fifteen and a half, when his car was struck by a drunk driver.
Although young, Herbie was very generous with his time and talents, always willing to help others. He wanted to be like his father, Herbert F. Mayer, Jr, as they had a passion for construction. He also inherited his father’s ability to tell a story. Everyone looked forward to Herbie’s story and knew it was well worth the wait. Herbie enjoyed being around people and time with family.
