#whyigive message from Zachary Hawkins
From Zachary Hawkins, Westridge Middle School Co-chair
The choice to donate to the GIPS Foundation is a simple one for me. In normal times, it is easy to see how my donations have a direct, positive effect on my students, schools, and community. Grants provide teachers and students with much needed resources and opportunities. Scholarships provide opportunities for young men and women to better themselves after leaving Grand Island Public Schools. Simply put, donations to the GIPS Foundation allow the people, schools, and city that I feel passionate about grow and prosper.
In these extraordinary times, I know we are all missing our students and are concerned about their well-being. Unfortunately we are hearing more and more cases of our students and their families suffering from Covid-19. If you are like me you've been wondering how to help our students in this difficult time. This year on top of all the other outstanding work they typically do for our students, staff, and school the GIPS Foundation has set up an emergency fund centered around helping our students and their families who are affected by Covid-19. As we all wait patiently for the opportunity to see and interact with our students again I ask that you take some time and donate what you can to help our students and community become whole once again.

Or, you can mail your gift to GIPS Foundation, PO Box 4904, Grand Island, NE 68802
Many of you have already answered the call and we are so encouraged by your hope and our message of Better, Stronger, Together.
Stay safe and good luck with the remainder of this weird school year!
