Shirley Nelson Memorial Scholarship

Shirley Nelson dedicated her life to the students of Grand Island Public Schools, serving in the Nutritional Services program for over 38 years. She was incredibly proud of her work, knowing that her role was to feed the students and support their success—a truly great joy for her. Shirley was an Islander at heart, with a strong family tie to the school; her three daughters and three of her grandchildren are all Grand Island Senior High graduates. The Shirley Nelson Memorial Scholarship was created to honor her memory and help future GISH graduates continue their education.
