What is esports?
Esports turns ‘playing’ video games into a highly competitive activity where students compete against other high schools. Hundreds of colleges across the country have esport teams and compete at the highest level offering scholarships to promising high school players. At the pro level, the teams are sponsored by companies like Mercedes Benz, Nike, and Mastercard often selling out venues like Madison Square Garden in minutes and outperforming traditional sports like the NBA, Formula 1, and the World Series for viewership.
How does this help students?
Esports, and competing as a team at a highly competitive level, helps develop life skills such as: teamwork, leadership, ownership, communication, accountability, sportsmanship, time management, strategic-thinking, problem-solving, and so much more. These life skills are what we at GISH esports find to be invaluable for creating our best esports teams as well as great people.
