Koann Hansen Medical Scholarship
The Koann Hansen Medical Scholarship was established to honor a long-standing family connection to medicine by helping students fulfill their dream of entering the healthcare field. This scholarship aims to provide opportunities for individuals who are deeply committed to delivering attentive, individualized patient care in a personal and compassionate environment.

Eligibility
- Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High, Grand Island Central Catholic, Grand Island Northwest, Grand Island Lutheran High, St. Cecilia, Heartland Community High School, Loup City, Ord, Palmer, High Plains, Ravenna, Shelton, St. Paul, Wood River, York, Nebraska Christian, Aurora, Central City, Central Valley, Centura, Doniphan-Trumbull, Elba, Giltner, Fullerton, Hampton, Hastings, or Adams Central
- Must attend a Nebraska College, University, or Community College
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Must be entering the Medical field, including nursing or Pre-Med

Selection Procedure
- Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.
Terms of Payment
- The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments.
Claim Scholarship
- The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student ID number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
