Jo Ann Kisner Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Essay Required

The Jo Ann Kisner Memorial Scholarship celebrates the legacy of a woman who embodied the true spirit of Nebraska: hard work, community leadership, and a bold entrepreneurial heart. Designed for students pursuing a degree in Business or Entrepreneurship at a Nebraska college, this scholarship honors those who possess the same drive to build, grow, and give back that defined Jo Ann’s life.

Amount and Terms 

  • $2,500 x 2 years

  • 1

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School 
  • Must be pursuing a 2 or 4-year degree in Business or Entrepreneurship
  • Plan to attend a Nebraska-based college, university, or community college
  • Proven commitment to community volunteerism 

Essay Question

  • How has your hard work and entrepreneurial spirit helped you lead and improve your community? (Max 500 words)

Selection Procedure

  • Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee appointed by the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation.

Terms of Payment

  • The scholarship will be paid through the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation to appropriate educational institution per scholarship eligibility defined above. Scholarships larger than $500 will be split into equal semester payments. The student must provide proof of enrollment (class schedule) and student number to the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation for scholarship distribution. Proof of enrollment is needed for each semester covered by scholarship terms.
