James G. Bastian, Ph.D., is an authority on 16th century organist and composer Claudio Merulo. The Doane College Professor of Fine Arts has published six volumes of Merulo’s sacred works through the American Institute of Musicology.
In his 30th year at Doane, Dr. Bastian is working on locating and editing the composer’s secular works for publication.
Dr. Bastian was appointed to Doane College’s first permanently endowed chair.
